Our History
Respect for tradition and the most modern technology are combined in our winery to extract the maximum potential from our raw material: grapes.
The Joaquín Rebolledo winery is located in Valdeorras, in the northeastern region of the province of Ourense. This natural gateway to Galicia is shaped by a deep, fertile and bright valley, through which the peaceful river Sil flows. Here are our vineyards, occupying an area of 35 hectares perfectly oriented to the sun, with slate and clay soils, where also chestnut and olive trees grow.
The philosophy that Joaquín Rebolledo has taught us is to be a pioneer, always looking for new trends based on our terroir and the wisdom of these valleys. Always restless, we make our red and white wines, increasingly complex and demanding.
Joaquín Rebolledo’s family house has been in operation for more than 4 generations, from where the vineyards of Fontei, Freixido, Trasdeirelas, Pedrazais, A Veiquiña, O Redondo and San Roque can be seen. From the viewpoints of the vineyards, 700 m. altitude, the Sil riverbed with all its vineyards is contemplated in an area where the thermal differences between day and night can exceed 20 degrees.
The Rebolledo family pioneered the recovery of the Godello grape 40 years ago. Thanks to the impulse of Joaquín Rebolledo and his risky bet, today the winery owns a Godello vineyard with an average age of 35 years old. The power of this variety, as well as the peculiarities of the Valdeorras soil, have led the most prominent Spanish winemakers to produce wines in Valdeorras. Discover and enjoy Joaquín Rebolledo’s Godello.
La Mencía is the quintessential red variety of the entire Northwest of the peninsula. Joaquín Rebolledo’s prestige in red wines is extraordinary and he continues to win top level awards in national and international competitions with his young and crianza wines.
